Hi all,

I am interested to know if some of the members had filed petition for their parents this year. I am a August filer. I would love to hear the processed that some of you went through so i can have an idea on the next steps. I just submitted the I-130 along with the other documents and G-1145 to pay for it. I hope to receive something from USCIS this week and i will update this group.

The time between NOA 1 and 2 will be about 8 months... then through the NVC stage, transfer to consulate and interview is currently running between 5 and 7 months, depending on background  checks, RFE etc or any other slow down,  such as delay in you submitting your paperwork

Thanks for the update! I'm going to suspect then it's possibly lost. I'll give the post office another call tomorrow and try to call USCIS as well. Thanks again :)

@mommyd I have a tracking number with insurance and everything, however, it's stuck "in transit." I called USPS and they said it was received by USCIS. However, there's no way to confirm if that's true until I receive a text confirmation or my credit card has been charged. I just sent an email to the USCIS dropbox to see if I can get a confirmation. As for who I filed the petition for, it was an I-130 for my wife.

Btw, if you dont mind, while waiting for approval, is there any tips like documents me and my mom should prepare ? In that way i can atleast make a list , i have some list but i want to hear from present experiences of filers what they did after getting approval.

Thank you so so much

So I have some updates! I checked my mailbox today and I found my package sent back to me. I sent both a credit card authorization and a check as a backup, so it was rejected for this very reason. Looks like the postmark date was August 20th for me, so the timing checks out as it should have been received by the lockbox on the 14th.

It'll be interesting since I sent out a package on Friday before checking my mailbox. I wonder if that'll get rejected as well since they expected back the original document sent to me! It's very enlightening to see how they actually organize the files and staple everything.

@ipatientlywaiting aww that is good to know though, i wonder why they sent it back ? i assume because you gave 2 kinds of payments ?? We only need to choose 1. I had to think about it before bec my husband used check all the time. It is my first time to use credit card. Did they say why it got rejected?

Just went on my mail box and saw no sign of NOA1 so maybe monday  or sometimes next week i will get the original mail. I am eager to know on the paper what is the priority date for my mom.

@mommyd Correct, I provided two payments--check and credit card. At least the package didn't get lost! My fear was all my documents went missing.
