Got my I-751 approved last January 22, 2007 , went to the INS Local office (Orlando,FL) on Feb 27,2007 and got fingerprinted and stamped for I-551 (temporary green card) on my passport, validity for one year.

It's been almost 3 months and haven't received the actual green card. How long does it take them to produce it , i thought it's only within 30 days. I am to file my N-400(Naturalization) next month (June 20,07) and I am worried what if by that time the card is still not here , and I believe this is one of the requirements (copy of green card) for submission.

Appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.

I have seen cases of up to 1 year for I-751, they are in no hury to process them.

You have the I-551 stamp, and NOA1 letter from the I-751 so you are covered for the year.

What are you basing the timing of naturalization on? Naturalization can be filed withing 90 days of the 3 year anniversary of getting your first green card, not 3rd wedding anniversary. So you should be filing the naturalization paperwork around 1 year after filing the I-751 paperwork.

I am basing my filing for naturalization on 90 days before the 3rd year anniversary of getting my first green card. I got my conditional green card on Sept 20,2004, thus, i plan to submit my N400 next month (June 20,2007). One of the requirements for N400 is copy of the green ( my old green card was surrendered when i got my passport stamped) but i have a photocopy of that. Do you think i can just submit a copy of the passport stamp(I-551) and photocopy of my expired conditional green card?

Yes, i have my stamp on my passport but can't locate my NOA1 letter for my I-751 approval.

That sounds like it may work, though they may just send an RFE for the NOA2 approval letter or copy of 10 year card. Edited by YuAndDan

This is interesting.. you got approved for I-751 (January 22, 2007) before you got your fingerprint done (Feb 27,2007)? :o Didn't mean to question you, BUT are you sure that's an appoval notice? Did you get an email with "Current Status: Card production ordered. "? I might be wrong, but it seems like you received NOA1 instead of approval, maybe? When did you send your I-751?

If that's indeed the approval, what's the purpose of getting the Biometrics after the approval?

I submitted my I-751 in June 2006, before they implemented the new procedure of getting the biometrics first before approval. The process I went through was the old method, submit I-751 ,wait for the approval letter, go to the local INS office with the approval, get fingerprinted and stamped . They changed that in July 2006.

Here's the skinny:

I called the USCIS 800 # today and inquired about my green card. The INS officer told me that our INS local office made a mistake, instead of sending my papers to TSC for issuance of the green card, he sent it to their warehouse for storage (National Record Center ) :( . He suggested to make an info pass appt so our INS local office can make another request. However, when I tried to make an info pass appt, got this message "there is no available dates as of this time, try again later" :(. I wonder why the officer I talked to on the phone cannot just send a request to issue a card for me. He also suggested to file an I-90 but it will take a little longer, i checked the processing time for I-90 ,it is like about 6 mos. :( Oh well, it's really frustrating knowing the cause of all this is on their end. Thank goodness I followed up, or else I will just be waiting for nothing.
