hi, me and my wife divorced, she never served me with proper documents, she just threw me in the street after i told her to not smoke weed or do drugs in front of our kid, i applied to remove conditions year ago, my ex wife vanished and i havent seen my son for so long, i dont know if she changed his name or family name, he had my name when he was born and raised him while she goes to work, for 16 months. how can i check if she changed his name, i want to order his birth certificate online but i am afraid she changed his name and gonna pay the fee for nothing. i have his hospital birth paper.

Getting his birth certificate is not going to help you.   Why do you think having his birth certificate going to help you with whatever problem you are having?  Why do you need his birth certificate?

What does your divorce decree say about child custody?

If your ex wife is interfering with the legal custody of your child, then hire a lawyer to sue her.

If your ex-wife can not legally change your son's name without your permission.

If she is using an alias (a fake name) and hiding the child from you, then contact the police and have them deal with the kidnapping of your child by his mother.

Plenty of people have file to remove conditions based on divorce.

Never seen anybody ask about getting their child's birth certificate because he feared that the mother changed his child's name.

It is against the terms of service of this message board to tell someone not to post.

You said you were afraid that she had changed the kids name.

Anywho, to answer your question in a lot of places the birth certificate will not reflect change in name made after the child is a certain age so ordering a new copy of the birth certificate will not show a change in name.

You would need to find out where they are and check the records of the local courts to see if they publish name changes, then if they do look see if they have done this for your child. America doesn’t have a centralized repository for requesting documents like this, you have to search each county which is a pain in the rear.

How are you legally divorced without divorce papers with custody of your biological child being settled, sorry if you find this offensive but this is confusing and my concern would be that you aren’t legally divorced which makes reporting your child’s disappearance more difficult.  You need to make sure you are in fact legally divorced and get a copy of the courts decisions on custody, then you can go after her if she is in violation of the decision.

Assuming this is a throw away account because you joined July 25th and have three posts, but yet know who is ruining a forum you just joined.

With that said, What state was the child born in? If you know the state and county the child was born in, you may be able to get a copy of the child's birth certificate. I just have to go downtown to get my daughters and I order my own from Colorado using this site: https://www.vitalchek.com/

Also if you name was on the child birth certificate, I don't believe that the mother can just change the name like that. If you name wasn't on it, then she probably can after a certain time.  Some places also require to have a copy of YOUR Drivers license when requesting a minors birth certificate so they can keep track of whos asking.

And note, you have to be served the proper documents to have a proper divorced, you've either been or will be in front of a judge to finalize the divorce, or you've signed a waiver of rights to the divorce which means you have no more part in the divorce. Some states have different waiting periods, depending on where you live, a divorce can take a long time or a very short time, but you will know if you're divorced or not. If you're truly curious, you can find out where ever the divorce was filed at and see if they have a copy of the finalized divorce.

So hopefully you have now been armed with how to get a childs birth ceritificate and/or find out if you are divorced or not.
