AOS Notice Has this happened to somebody else?

Hi everybody.

I was wondering if somebody could tell me something about this.......

The last time I checked my case status online for AOS, it said that the last notice they sent to me had been returned to the INS as undeliverable by the post office on October 12 2005.

I found out this in November, since then I called the National Number 6 times and everytime they told me a referral had been made to have that notice resent to me, but since the month of october I still havent' received that letter yet.........I made an appoinment with the local INS office, and all they could tell me was the same thing ( they had sent me a notice that was returned to them on October 12) so I wrote a letter to the Missouri National Center, where my application is, explaining the situation and asking them to resend me the notice.........I know they got the letter, because I received a return receipt, but it's been a month and I still haven't received anything...........I checked with the post office several times to make sure, and everything is right.........I am worried, becasue the processing dates for AOS in Missuri was only 6 months before my date, so it's getting close, but I don't know waht they wanted from me and I don't know if there something they were telling me to do since the processing date is approaching.............basicly I don't have a clue on what's going on with my case........all I know is that the processing date was someday in Dec 2003, and my application is dated August 2004.......should I contact a lawer or my congressman?

I hate to waist all this time, if there is something I should be doing instead, the officer I talked to said that maybe they were telling me to proceed with the medical examination......but there was no way he could see what that notice said......has this ever happend to somebody else?

Thanks!

Valentina

You must be frustrated. If you can, schedule another InfoPass appointment and bring what proof you have with you. If you have copies of your AOS statement, they should probably be enclosed with that. See if you can't arrange to talk to someone who might be able to tell you what it was.

If you get no where, get your congressperson involved. They might be able to make direct inquiries on your behalf to NBC/Missouri.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me. I contacted my congressmans office, who then found out that my case had been denied because we had failed to appear for an interview (thats what the returned notice was about). I made an infopass appt. and brought with me a letter from the postmaster at the post office stating that they had returned my mail in error, and I had to file a motion to reopen my case. Luckily they waived the fee because it clearly wasn't my fault. Unfortunately there is nothing to really prove that you have called the information line - I called MANY times to try and get the letter resent, as well as sending letters to the MSC. I would recommend contacting your congressmans office as well as the infopass appointment.

Good luck - I know how frustrating this can be.

Thank you chiggins for your reply.

I think that's what I'm going to do , contact a congressman.

I wouldn't think my application has been denied, because in February the Missouri Center was still processing applications dated Dec 2003, that is 8 months away from the date on mine.......that's what happened for you too? Or your processing date had been already passed when you checked?

But anyway I will take no chances and try to take care of this ASAP.

Keep you posted.

Vali, the dates listed for processing on the different service centers and/or district offices is not always accurate or up to the minute. You are probably also pending through a district office for your AOS.
