Does an approved K1 fiancee holding a US Passorrt qualify for coverage in the Health Insurance Marketplace

The I-94 does NOT make them eligible for health insurance on the federal marketplace as a K1. Remember, if the K1 immigrant does not AOS or change status at the end of the 90 days (under the I-94) they effectively become subject to removal (and not eligible for insurance). This is why a K1 must provide something more concrete as proof of status. The type of document you are allowed to present are completely different depending on immigration class and status. As I said, you're going to need the NOA1 from AOSing at the very earliest. The federal rules are clear what documents and what classes of immigrants need documents in particular. People are on this forum all the time figuring out how to sign their fiancés and new spouses up, and the consensus is what it is.

That's another good option for the OP. And usually sometimes it's the best one. The less government involvement in the paperwork the better for everyone.

Look at travel/new immigrant insurance; there are policies just for situations like this.  There are companies that issue coverage for relatively low maximums. The costs are quite affordable. I generally purchase in addition to our annual US based coverage when family travel from US to abroad for the additional services and repatriation/medevac benefits just in case the worst happens.
