Please help us if you have recently interviewed at Islamabad embassy or are scheduled for an interview there soon. Share your experiences or just keep us posted so we have an idea of how long it takes to schedule interviews there after NVC approval.

Just trying to piece it all together. It has been such a stressful and frustrating process.

Here’s my case so far:

PD: 5/30/2017

NOA2: 12/21/2017 (205 days)

USCIS sent to NVC: 1/26/2018 (~5 weeks)

NVC received: 2/1/2018

Case number: Still waiting (8 weeks)

After your case complete in nvc it would approximately take one month for islamabad embassy  to schedule interview but it depends on embassy work load too.  Sometimes you can get an early appointment if you are lucky enough :D

10 OCT TSC still waiting for NOA 2

Consulate isLamabad

It’s a long process. Hang in there.

I started putting the documents together for NVC after I received our NOA2 but it’s been over 3 months and not even a case number yet. I keep reminding myself this too shall pass.

I had to wait to file my tax return but now they’ve taken so long that I do have my 2017 tax transcript too.

Other documents needed are: beneficiary’s birth certificate, copy of the biographic page of passport, marriage certificate, police character certificate. You should go through the steps on the NVC page to figure out the requirements for you and start collecting those documents.  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/after-petition-approved/begin-nat-visa-center.html

Wait for the police certificate though.. my husband’s certificate had an expiration date of 6 months so it’ll expire in May. He’ll have to get another one. Clearly it took a lot longer than we expected.

I did call them today (like 500th time) and the rep told me it’s taking even longer than 8 weeks. She routed it to a supervisor again but could not tell me anything else :(

Thanks .

But some people who recently got interviewed at islamabad embassy told me that police certificate is not needed from Pakistan as its also written on their website (Not Available).

Have you got on tier 2 to talk when calling NVC?

We did not do any police certificates for NVC since it’s not required. They also did not ask about it at the interview.

We’ve just been trying to gather every possible document just in case but since it’s not required maybe we won’t get another one since the previous one will expire in a month.

Okay.. thanks. Maybe we won’t get another one then. I wasn’t sure if it’ll help the case even though it’s not required.

My Urdu is terrible. So it’s been 5 weeks since your interview? What did they tell you at the interview? Did they need more documents? Unfortunately it’s a waiting game. Submit everything they ask for in a timely manner and then just have to wait for them to approve.

Congrats! Last I saw interviews were being scheduled for May. I hope you get yours soon!
