Hi everyone!

Recently-ish (nov 2017) I applied for Adjust Status (I-485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status) for my mother, i'm a citizen, but i didn't applied for a work permit, she didn't needed, last month we sent extra evidence, as it was requested, didn't hear anything back.

I did the same process for my father last year and he got a work permit pretty fast but his green card didn't come till a year later, Im wondering what happens when you don't request a work permit? What is next for my mom? limbo?

you should have, it was free and the EAD not only is for working, but as proof of legality in the US while she waits for the interview

she could have gotten her social, she could travel in the US and if any problems should arrive, she could show the card as being legal in the US. she could get a drivers license, it has many uses

you can still file for a work permit, but the wait is over 5 months
