DCF Johannesburg, pay in Cape Town

I am filing I-130 for my South African husband my mailing it to the Johannesburg office.  The Embassy website says I am allowed to pay the fees at the Cape Town embassy.  The website says to pay BEFORE sending in the application.  On the phone, the Cape Town embassy says to FIRST mail in my I-130 and then the Johannesburg office will email me about paying in Cape Town.  Anyone have experience with this?

Not directly but they presumably need a case number to link the payment to if it’s not attached to the I130, so the advice from the Cape Town consulate makes sense.  Also if Cape Town is taking the fee it makes sense to follow their own guidance?

Yes! You can go to the Cape Town Consulate with your packet and pay the fee. You need to call and make an appt. Have all your paperwork. You will pay the fee, and pay a fee to mail it to Jo'Burg.
