Hello guys,

I have been searching all over the internet and have not quite found what I am looking for. My situation is:

  1. I entered the US with K1 visa and currently is waiting for my I751 (10 years GC) to approve. I applied back in February 2017, CSC center
  2. I also applied for N400 back in December 2017 at Seattle office. I had my biometrics taken and currently waiting for inline interview. The estimated processing time is 10 months on my account which for some reasons showed as January 2019.
  3. I got into a study abroad program in Spain which is fully paid for and I do not want to miss out the opportunity. The program is from September to December 2018. I know that I need to apply for Schengen visa which could only be "ONE TIME ENTRY" visa.

My question is:

1. If I got an interview for N400 during the time I am in Spain, Could I reschedule it? How will it affect my case?

2. Has anyone have any experience applying for Schengen visa with your i551 stamp. In case, I still do not get my green card on time.

Thank you so much.

Hi there, as far as I know, you will apply for Spain student visa few months before traveling and you don't have to apply for a Schengen visa. Spain is among the Schengen countries so you could also travel without any visa to Schengen countries. I am pretty positive you would get approved before September but even if you become a U.S citizen you will still need to apply for a student visa. You can travel to many countries visa-free but for work and study, you would need a visa.

Hi!

I'm in a pretty similar situation as yours. I applied for the Spanish Student Visa (I'm going from June-Feb to study) and they only requested a copy fo the stamp, you can only apply 90 days before your start day, so keep that in mind.

As for the interview, you can request the Spanish student visa to have more than one entry, once you're there you have to get the NIE (Numero identificacion extranjeros) and with that you can travel outside of Spain to wherever you would have your interview, or you can request to re-schedule. They recommended we travel to the interview the first time just to be on the safe side.

I Hope this helps!

I only go for 90 days so Schengen visa will work for me. Thank you so much for your help, it was super helpful. How long did it take you to get your visa?
