Hello everyone. I'm currently filling the documents for AOS and a combo card. I was a J1 exchange student in the past and had DS 2019 forms issued by my sponsor organization. And the I-765 form asks if i ever applied for work authorization before. Does my previous DSs count? and if yes, I have no idea what uscis office it was issued through. Anyone had the same issue here? Huge thank you!

I used to be a j1 holder now applying for ead. I understood that question more as "have you applied for an EAD before" so I put no. Not sure if it's right but still waiting for approval so can't tell you for sure.

You may have to call uscis customer service see if they can advise?

Hi there, any follow up on this issue? I'm in the same situation.

Also, did you attach DS2019 from J-1 times to anything as proof? I'm having trouble with locating mine, I only have "Certificate of Eligibility for exchange visitor j-1 status" documents.

Hi! I didn't send ds or even previous j1 visas or anything else about it. It's been 2 months since we sent out the docs and no rfe so far. if yo haven't sent the papers yet I'd suggest to send copies of previous j1 visas. And I think I wouldn't have been able to get my ds forms anyway. so don't worry about it too much, i guess

Thanks, that's what I thought. If you have any input on my other question, it would be greatly appreciated (my other Q) Take care!
