My fiance is going to send in his Packet 3 this week and from what I gather, within the next 4-6 weeks he'll be scheduling his interview.

Can he schedule an interview for September, or does he need to schedule it for an earlier date? And if he does have to schedule it for lets say June, can he reschedule it in May and push it to a later date? I know that the visa is good for 6 months but the issue is his stay in Montreal - we won't have enough money saved for the medical exam and the other expenses associated with staying there for almost a week. He's coming down for a visit in June for my friend's wedding and my 30th birthday so he's got to have some money put aside for that... but I wanted to make sure that pushing the interview was something he could do. If he can't I guess he'll have to skip the visit.

Thanks.

Just like to point out that you knew going into this process there would be lots of expenses. Regardless, if you are at packet 3 stage, you are almost done with the process and your petition will not be valid for much longer. You are correct in that your visa will only be valid from 6 months from issued date, but in order to attend the interview, your petition needs to be valid. It is my understanding that if there are issues with time from USCIS or the embassy, they renew the petition, but if it’s your issue then you will have a really hard time renewing it. If you are at packet 3 stage, your petition should be expiring within the next couple of months at the most. If you miss your chance, you will have to start all over again. Not really worth it, is it?

It is my understanding that you must have *AN* interview scheduled by the NOA2 expiration date. Does not specify WHEN the interview HAS to be. And I'm sorry, if this isn't allowed admins please remove, but I don't appreciate your condescending tone. We both struggle financially and that was quite rude.

Because the NOA2 is only valid for 4 months, there's LITERALLY no way anyone gets an interview and finished with the processes in those four months. Hell, he only received packet 3 two weeks ago though he's been preparing for it, gathering documents, etc.
