Neonred Great info for all of us waiting for the interview.

You mentioned a DS 230. I have not seen this on the Embassy website. Is this something New and required in addition to the DS 156. I found the form on the net and it looks pretty much the same.

Anyone have any info on how the medical examinations went. Fast / slow what they docs did.

My Fiancee is strssing about everything. She is quite worried that anything that can go wrong will.

The more I can tell her, the less she worries.

Your girl will get the envelope with all things including both forms. The DS 230 is available for download on visajourney, I think. She will need both forms filled out. Nothing difficult, but you may have to help her a little to be sure she understands what answers.

My girl used the health clinic on 2-Zwenigorodskaja Street building 12. They call this clinic "MOM". She will get results the same day at about 5:00PM. She needs to call a few weeks in advance to set up an appointment. She will need to bring her old vaccination records with DATES, day, month, and year. She will still need one vaccination as Russians do not get the MMR vaccine. The vaccination will cost an extra $40.

They asked my girl if she had been ill with terrible sickness, and then if she is smoking. Asked about her weight and height. They will take some blood for an AIDS test and a chest X-ray.

She spent about 2 hours total, and had to do things in two different buildings.

Oh, let me add one more thing. HAVE HER GET THE POLICE CERTIFICATES NOW, especially if she needs to get any from a different country or other FSU country. We had problems with this and ended up going to the interview with a faxed copy from Germany. I was sure we were going to get shot down with it but they said it was OK. We did not enjoy the stress that went along with trying to get things at the last minute, and to have the official certificate not show up (at the German embassy).

Let me know if you have any other questions.

DS-230 is an Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration. If you are applying for a K1, you are applying for a non-immigrant visa hence the $100 fee. In that case you do not need to fill out the DS 230. If you are applying for a CR1/IR1, you are applying for the immigrant visa and you will need this form. But if you prefer to fill out unneccessary forms just in case, you are always welcome to.

We had a completely different experience with MOM medical clinic. My fiancee also had her vaccination record on hand, but the examining staff refused to look at it and refused to administer any vaccines stating that they are not required for a K1 and you can get them in the US. That is a big disappointment because it is a lot cheaper and more convenient to do them in Russia. But it turned out okay, as public health here in the states only charged us $10 a pop.

I didn't find the DS 230 Here on Visa Journey. I did do a search on the net and find it. It is pretty much the same as the DS 156. Were are filing for on a K 1. So per Satellite won't need it. I sent a Email to the Embassy for clarification anyway. Don't much expect to get an answer from them though. I have sent them 2 questions of which they only found time to answer one. That took 1.5 weeks and was concerning her interview date. Push comes to shove we will probably complete it anyway. It will only take a few minutes and she will have peace of mind.

She will have her police background on the 27th. Fortunately she has lived in the same city her entire life.

Thus the check was not difficult. Hopefully they did it on both her maiden and former married name as requested. If not we still have some time to request another one. It takes about 3 weeks in her city.

She has decided she wants to go to Moscow before I arrive for her medical. She still worries there will be problems there and wants to have time to take care of any problems in that area if needed.

I am assuming in the medical they are only checking for vacinations, HIV and xray for tuberculosis.

Thus she should be fine.

All your info and advice is greatly appreciated. Any more you can think of will be great.

I will have to disagree with Satelitte. Perhaps things have changed some in the year and a half since their interview. The DS-230 will be sent to your girl, and they will ask for it and take it. At least this was the case last week! See also the K-1 flow chart here and list of required documents for K-1 in the Guides section. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...om&page=k1forms

Have to agree with you here. If the form comes in the packet by all means fill it out. Certainly wasn't in ours. Times have changed; our experience is out dated :P At least living in Russia hasn't changed that much. :)
