Hey folks,

I am about to start the N-400 process and have a couple of questions. First about me. I have been a permanent resident for 9 years, came into the country on a K-1. We got married, divorced after 1.5 years, and I lifted conditions right after that. 3 years ago I got married again. Obviously I am filing under 5-year residence rule.

1.) Do I have to submit proof of my previous divorce or just the marriage certificate with my new wife, as requested in the instructions?
2.) The instructions don't say that you HAVE to submit tax returns for the past 5 years - at least I didn't see that anywhere. It does say though to have them handy for the interview. Why is everyone submitting them with their N-400?
3.) Arrests / detentions by police. I got a speeding ticket once and a warning once, both times got pulled over. Disclose that on the N-400 or not, what is the consensus about traffic tickets?

Thanks!

1. I submitted divorce decree and copy of current marriage certificate.  At the interview IO did not ask to show originals, but I brought them.

2. I did not submit or show any tax docs.

3. You have a to honest about all citations and disclose on N-400.

Thanks for your response, greatly appreciated. Or, Dankeschön, as we say at home :)

Did you get your BBG or relinquish your German citizenship? I filed for BBG about a month ago, and wanted to submit my N-400 shortly, as processing times in Denver are through the roof.

No BBG for me.  I thought you need your approved BBG before submitting N-400, but I might be wrong.  I am in SF and took me 254 days from filing to Oath.

No, you need it in hand before taking the oath.
