Hi everyone,

I won the DV 2018 and my interview will be next week.

I need to show evidence of assets in my interview. I don't have an i-134 or sponsor so I will have to show my own bank account summary with withdraws and deposits statement for the last 12 months.

I currently have about $36K in my bank account but I couldn't find anywhere how much money is sufficient.

I found that the HHS poverty guideline for a family of 2 is $20K. Is that the amount that I should have in my bank account?

My bank account is all the assets I have as I am 23 and I couldn't save any more than that.

As already stated it's only me and my wife that move to the US.

Thanks for your help in advance!

There is no official single guideline because it’s dependent on individual circumstances. Your bank account balance should be easily sufficient for you and your wife. At your age, if you have a degree in a field where jobs are easy to find you probably wouldn’t even need to show assets, but the more evidence you can bring the better of course.

Thank you very much for your answer! I feel a big relief! I was worried that I am going to need 625% of poverty guidelines as for family-based visas (which I don't have).

I am a web software developer for the last year and a half (without a degree) in a large global company (1000+ workers). I hope that it is considered an easy to find (from my perspective, it seems like one).

In the (generic) email that I got from the embassy last week, it states that I need to bring evidence of assets. I will also bring my resume for backup and all the paychecks I got on my current job.

Is that a good idea to bring those documents to the interview (in addition to bank statements)?

625%? Where did you see that? For DV it’s usually equal to, if they ask, though some embassies look at 125% which is the same as family sponsored visas.

Yup, bring everything (maybe just latest paycheck rather than all, after all presumably these are all inflows into the bank statement you’ll be showing). They may not ask for it, but it’s always better to be overprepared and have it just in case they do. Anything in the IT field is probably considered easy to get jobs so that should help you.

which embassy are you interviewing at?

Thank you very much again for your answer!

I am going to have my interview at the embassy in Jerusalem.

As a web developer, is there any chance that I will get into TAL? I have no degree or military experience.

Thanks in advance!

B’hatzlachah!

havent seen many Israeli DV winners on the forums. I don’t think they usually ask for assets there but not sure.

I highly doubt TAL will be an issue for you.
