Where to send our I-485?

Due to employment reasons, temporarily me and my husband are living in different states that fall under different USCIS jurisdiction. Should we submit for I-485 together at the USCIS jurisdiction where the principal beneficiary I-140 was approved or should we send our application to our respective USCIS jurisdiction lockboxes?

I would put the address where both of you want to reside permanently, but still list the other spouse's current address. Then, send the I-485 together to the USCIS jurisdiction of the future permanent address.

10/26/2018 I-485 case status updated to "We ordered your new card"

11/01/2018 My card was picked up by the USPS with tracking number assigned

11/05/2018 Green Card Received 

 

Side note: I turned my maiden name into second middle name. In the combo card, my given name is First Firstmiddleinitial, however on the back of the card, they attempted to list my second middle name.

@ColoradoBeauty  we are not sure where we will reside permanently. We were planning on sending our I-485 to seperate USCIS locations based on our addresses, do you think that will be a problem?

So,  you will be sending 2 copies of the I-485 ?

I just noticed I-140 is for alien worker. Did you file I-140 or I-130?

Thanks for quoting a previous post. My I-140 EB1A got approved, based on which we both want to file for I-485. I am living in Pennsylvania and my husband in Wisconsin. Thus I fall under the Dallas lockbox jurisdiction and my husband fall under Pheonix lockbox. There is no option to mention permanent or temporary address. We will have to enter our own addresses in the forms. But at the end do you think we should send our application together to the same USCIS lockbox or different?

I think if your applications are not dependent on one another it's okay to send to different lockboxes. Have you try contacting USCIS or live chat?

The spouse's application will be dependent on mine. We contacted USCIS twice, they said to send the application to our respective USCIS lockboxes. For my spouse they asked him to include my I-140 approval notice with his application. But when we asked a couple of lawyers, some said send it together, some said send it seperate. I think we will go with the USCIS's suggestion to send it to our respective USCIS lockboxes.

Sorry, I'm actually not familiar with I-140, but assuming your case will be adjudicated separately, it should not be a problem to send the application separately. Especially, that's what USCIS suggested.
