Hi, my mum filed for my sister and I, we went for our DNA appointment and interview together, submitted the same documents together as well. However my sister has received her visa and even left for the US but my status is still ready. I'd like to know if there may be a problem or how long i'd have to wait to get mine since the consular officer did not inform us of such a wait at the time of the interview. Need some help please. Thank you

My mum was the petitioner. In order to prove that they needed us to do a DNA test to show that the petitioner is indeed our mother

Is that a requirement for those parent who are going to petition their children. DNA test is expensive

Hi The embassy also requested me to get a DNA test... Are you from the philippines too? Did you wait for the DNA letter or just went ahead and scheduled a DNA test?

What were you ages when she filed and what are you ages now? Did you get married?

Sometimes it is requested by embassies in order to confirm a biological relationship. Some countries where unofficial adoptions (a birth mother's family or friend raises their child from birth) are common have DNA request more than others. Yes it is expensive but if they ask for it and you want to immigrate, you have to get it done.

I was 18 I think, I'm 21 now but I'm not married. The consular officer said the age from the priority date is what is considered.

Hmmm.

How did your mom obtain her green card?

Also, how long did it take to approve you petition?

I can't remember how she obtained her green card but she was a citizen at the time she filed for myself and my sister. It's been almost three years now
