How does the financial sponsorship part work?

If my wife (US Citizen) is living with me in my country and she has a job and shows she is making for example 40k a year. Can she still be my financial sponsor, or does the fact that she does not have a job lined up for when we move to America mean that someone else will have to be a co-sponsor?

The income must be from a source that will continue when she returns to the US, or she can use assets (at 3x the required income level). If she doesn't meet the financial requirements, she can have a joint sponsor also complete an I-864 and provide supporting evidence.

 

She must also show US domicile or sufficient intent to establish US domicile.

So  job here won't work. If we have $80,000 in savings will that be fine or would we need another person to still joint sponsor us?

Depends on your household size, but I think it would be fine assuming it's just you 2 and you have non-negative income.

I-864 uses the 125% income level (except active duty military members) Assets should be at the 3x level for a spouse.
