Hi, I am US citizen And filed 1-130 for my parents in start of July, 2017. I got 1-797C in Mid July stating that " my application is received and is in process".

Now my brother says the priority date on the receipt letter is July, processing times on uscis site shows 7 month delay which means my parents would be here with us in January 2018.

I was thinking it would take around 2 years for them to come. I really don't get it how from priority date, it is understood that they will be here in 4-5 months.

Please help me understand t as I had plans tak go to them but I don't have to if they really get their Visa in January.

There is a receipt number which when I tracked says " follow our instructions on receipt number".

Reciept just says your application is under process.

What will happen next? Am I gonna get NOA and the file go to some kind of visa center or back home embassy then they will get the required docs and test and interviews etc and then will give visa. Does it really take not much time for all that?

Any help or link is appreciated.

nvc will email u to send further docs that will take 11 weeks . Make sure u send all docs correctly if any docs missing they will take more time. If your all docs  r correct and completed they will forword your case to ISb embassy they will schedule your parents interview. You will be recieving emails also u can check your status on ceac website when they forword your case to NVC

Thankyou Saima. So I should expect 6-9 months for NVC after approval.

How much time does it take to get approval after I get reciept??

After approval of i 130, it will be sent to NVC for further process. NVC will take about a month or so to assign you case number and then send your parents welcome letter and a copy to you by mail. They will also guide you for further process which includes payment of fees and submission of on line immigrant visa application and what  financial and civil document you need to submit to NVC. Once they receive the documents, they will take about 3 months to review those documents  and if find them complete in all respect they shall inform you that your case is complete and give give your parents an interview date. You can check the processing times of the service center  of USCIS where your i 130 is under process. It will give you an idea how long USCIS will take. Depending on the center approval may take some where between seven to ten months if you do not get a request for further evidence otherwise it may take longer. Once its approved and you are prompt to complete the process required by NVC, it may take around six months. But if they need more documents it may take longer. Roughly it may take from a year to year and a half for the whole process.

No way. Its taking way longer than 9 months. Check the immigration time lines here and you will find that people didn't even get approval notice from USCIS alone in 9 months what to talk about the whole process . http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?cfl=&op3=20&op5=&op6=All

NVC also takes around six months if every thing goes smooth. Now a days its taking between 13 months to 20 months for the whole process.

When? You haven't filled out a timeline so we have no idea if your experience is from one month ago or 10 years ago.

Currently it is averaging around 12-14 months. Some shorter for various reasons and somebnonget for various reasons. Expect that it will take about 6-9 months for uscis to review and approve the petition before you move on the the nvc.

As stated previously, the nvc will take about 1 month to receive your case and about 3 months to review the documents that you file with them (maybe sooner if you are one of the lucky people who don't have to submit paper documents).

Once nvc finishes then you have to wait for an interview to be scheduled, this could take a couple weeks of a couple of months, it all depends on the embassy/consulate that you have to go through. Once scheduled it will probably take about a month to complete your physical and the interview.

One other thing, you will have a priority date, everycase does. However, for this visa category a visa will automatically be available; therefore, for all practical purposes the priority date is irrelevant.
