Hello everyone!

I am in the process of filling out the I-129 form to apply for a K-1 visa for my fianceé. She is French, I am a US citizen.

Currently we live together in France, I have a residency permit, but it will expire in a couple of months, when I plan to go back to the US. But we want to get the ball rolling now.

I don't have my checkbook with me, since nowadays you can pay for almost everything by credit card or online payment; of course this would be the one exception to that... so does anyone here have experience with paying the fee from outside the US, specifically France? Is there some kind of money order I can buy that will be accepted in the US?

Thanks in advance for your help!

We paid for our fees using a money order. Try purchasing it from a global bank like an HSBC and ask that it be issued in US Dollars.

Also, do you have a physical address state side? I believe that might be a requirement.

Best of luck to you both.

As per USCIS, "Bank drafts, cashier's checks, certified checks, personal checks, and money orders must be drawn on U.S. financial institutions and payable in U.S. funds.

You can ask a family member or friend to issue and send you a US check if push comes to shove. The check doesn't have to be in your name :) Make sure the amount is $535 and made payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Do not shorten the name.

For my I-129F, K-1, AOS, EAD, AP and ROC detailed timelines, please refer to my timeline page :)

ROC filed on December 1, 2020, assigned to SRC, approved within 106 days on February 18, 2021.

My sincerest gratitude to all VJers, especially the late geowrian.
