Hi,

I'm trying to decide between two paths. We've just received the paper work to come for the interview. However, a really good position has just opened up in my field abroad. It's a temporary position for 3 years, and I plan on moving back to the United States. I should hear back from that company in mid-November to see if I got the position, and I feel like I have 90% chance of success. Would it be better to get her the green card now, then move abroad temporarily for 3 years, or just delay the interview until I hear back from that company? Since I just got the letter for the interview can I delay my interview until after mid-Novemeber? I just don't want to go through this whole process again, but at the same time, I don't want to put her green card at risk.

There is really only one path.

If you leave the US for 3 years you will lose your green card.

Put your case on hold. Call every year to keep it active. When you are ready, then proceed. Otherwise you will be wasting a green card process.
