Hi,

I am preparing for my interview which is coming up in a couple of weeks. I have a few questions regarding which documents to bring. I tried to find the information I needed through the search function with no luck. I am adjusting from a K1 visa.

My appointment letter states that I have to bring "A completed medical examination (Form I-693) and vaccination supplement in a sealed envelope (unless already submitted)". This does not apply to my case, correct? Should I bring the DS-3025 instead?

The letter also states I have to bring a completed Affidavit of Support (Form I-864) with all required evidence, unless already submitted. Am I correct in my understanding that I do not need to bring any documents related to the I-864 I attached to my i-485 application?

Later on, the letter states I also need to bring an "Original and copy of each supporting document that you submitted with your application". Does this include the documents I attached to the I-864 in the original I-485 application? Is the I-864 not relevant in this situation, since this interview is about the I-485?

Lastly, I would like to share with you the evidence I am planning to bring as proof of relationship. What do you think?

  • Marriage certificate
  • Photos
  • Joint savings account documents
  • My wife's paystub(s) stating she is filing taxes jointly
  • Health insurance documents
  • Documents from a surgery I had with both of our names on them
  • Letter from relative/friend stating our relationship is real
  • Cards from family and friends congratulating our marriage

We do not have a mortgage or lease together. We are living with my wife's parent. We also do not have any utility bills together. My in-law is paying for all the utilities, except for internet, but I am not included on that bill. I was thinking that maybe we can bring a statement explaining our current life situation, since we do not have any of these expenses you normally would share as a married couple. What do you think of my list of evidence? Any ideas to what I can add?

Thank you!

You should be fine with all the documents you have as proof, sometimes it depends on the IO, some don't even look at those documents, All you need is a good relaxation, a bit of nervousness :), which comes with every interview except if you are the one conducting the interview. You should go with your DS-3025 forms.

I would suggest you go with all I-864 documents, as it is part of the I-485.

The I-864 is proof of financial stability, it does apply to all AOS (I-485).

Go with every documents you can think of, it is better to be over prepared with all documents than to get a RFE and delay your approval.

Good luck

Thank you for your reply. The letter states you shouldn't have to bring the I-864 documents if you have already submitted them. Should I bring them anyway?

Thank you for your advice. :)

Even if the letter says don't bring it......Just take it along, if the IO don't ask for proof of financial stability, then you don't give it.

My view is that, it doesn't hurt to go with it. Its just might be useful or not....it is better to be safe than sorry.  As much as they already have all your documents when you submitted, what if you get there and the IO asked for all your documents that he can't find your files or folder, then what? exactly....you created a backup folder you go with in case any of the submitted documents is missing.
