I wonder if Jesse Jackson would have offered the same thing for a white girl, if the situation was reversed.. After all he does say he stands for equality right??

Probability of that is negative value. He would have come out on the side of the defendant if guilty, perhaps if innocent (and not easily provable). Non-guilt as obvious as in Duke Case--Jackson would not even come near, due to no chances of getting media attention out of it (he still can't figure the media lost interest in him in 1990's).

I would have more respect for him if he just came out and said what he really feels; which is obviously, "###### the white folk and power to my colored people".

Here, you're inaccurate; it's actually, "###### the white (and asian/pac-isle) folks and power to ME" (his interest in any other African-Americans is only as pawns for his own ends; he hates those he can't rule over, prominent examples being Alan Keyes, Jesse Lee Peterson and J.C. Watts).

"Hey, Jesse, pay my tuition, I claim this rich dude raped me and now I want my money?" I really don't buy it.

There is no precedent for anything here. There is no 'trend' towards poor people making false claims and lying about rape to get money. This was a one off, isolated incident. Sure, go after the prosecutor for taking a case to court that should never have gone there but leave over with the 'it's a slippery slope' rubbish.

Tawana Brawley. What a #### up that was. Haven't heard Al Sharpton apologize for that either.

I thought of the Brawley case when this all started too. But where Tawana was deliberately lying to avoid the wrath of her father, I think that the Duke girl is not mentally all there. She is still claiming that they raped her even thought ALL of the evidence points otherwise. And to be fair to her, I don't think she went into all of this thinking, "Hey, Jesse Jackson will give me a free ride to college if I make up a great story about some rich, white boys."

ETA, I think the worst offender in this whole case is Nifong. Without him, the story would have been nipped in the bud.
