He said that the Russia-US dialogue stopped being "ideologized" after this approach had been chosed by the Barack Obama administration. He said that the Trump administration is set to make deals with its partners.

He said that Trump's administration is business-like and willing to negotiate certain issues.

"Our dialogue as of now is free from ideology that was very typical for Obama’s administration," Lavrov stated. "Both Trump and Secretary of State and his administration as I realized today once again are business-like people and they want to reach agreements not for the sake of demonstrating their achievements to anyone in terms of their ideological preferences."

Lavrov said that it is "embarrassing" for the US to say Russia is influencing its political system, adding that the United States is a "great" country.

 

"It's humiliating for American people to believe that the Russian Federation is controlling the domestic situation in the United States. How can it be possible for such a great power?" Lavrov stated during a press conference following his meetings with Trump and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

Isn't that what a lot of left leaning pundits were saying about President Obama?  I still remember Chris Matthews saying President Obama didn't like talking to people even from his own party.  Based on the last eight years, it seems pretty evident that President Obama was an ideologue that wanted to lecture more than listen.  I have worked for managers that were similar and they were the worst ones I ever had.

 

The Left is always saying we need to just talk to these foreign governments to make them understand the best ways to do things, now we have a President that actually wants to talk to these leaders and not lecture them.  Refreshing!

I'm not a left pundit so no idea about that. Guess I just like to call out as trump calls them "phoney hypocrites" ie tillerson and trump who sell country for personal profit. Trump thinks he's smart but the Kremlin is way above his game. Funny how Comey got fired while in California by trump just b4 meeting with the Russian ambassador ...and Guiliani just happened to be staying at trump's Washington, D.C. Hotel that night-Google lavrov/Guiliani ...

It is humiliating, and that's why the so-called president fired the man who was in charge of the investigation, only days after he asked for more resources to the investigation. Lavrov's comment is a slap in the face of the American people. It's a thumb in nose comment - he might as well have saluted Americans with the middle finger.
