n 400 interview schedule over 300 miles from home

Hi everyone, I and posting this for a friend, she is on her third n 400 interview because she failed the first two because her English is bad, anyway, she lives about 75 miles south of Houston and that is where she went for the first two interviews,  for some reason they scheduled her third interview in Dallas, more than 350 miles away. Does anyone know why they would schedule her interview so far from home, when the Houston office is so much closer. Thanks in advance for your reply and help

It may be a mistake. 

 

Each USCIS local office only has jurisdiction over a set area; since she lives near Houston then the Houston office has jurisdiction over her place of residence. 

 

I would suggest she makes an Infopass appointment at the Houston office and talks face to face to an IO about this issue. 

 

I actually had the reverse happen. USCIS tried to schedule me in Houston but I was meant to go to Dallas. It took some wrangling but I eventually got them to realise their mistake and they sent my case to Dallas.

Day 376 (1/14/19) Interview

Day 385 (1/23/19) Denied

Day 400 (2/7/19) Denial revoked; N-400 approved; oath ceremony set for 2/14/19

Day 407 (2/14/19) Oath ceremony in Dallas, TX
