I have a few concerns about my K1 Visa application. I have recently sent away all the documentation to be reviewed and awaiting my confirmation letter. I know the next step is to prove my income for the Visa, but the past year I was studying abroad in Japan. This is where I met my Fiance. In 2016, I only made about 5,500 dollars in income because I was away for almost 10 months of it and in 2015 I only made 16,000 because I was away for four months. Based on this, it sounds like I need to apply for an affidavit of Support.

My two questions are:

1.) If I have to get a joint sponsor, does it matter if they live in a different state than me? He is my older nephew who makes about 50-60,000 dollars a year currently. Will his living in another state affect his eligibility to co-sponsor?

2.) I am currently in college but will graduate in April. I have a job lined up for me with an offer letter that says I will be making 36,000 dollars a year and I am currently making about 2,000 dollars a month part time between two jobs. Will this be sufficient evidence that would allow me to not have to get a co-sponsor?

Thank you all for your advice!
