Hello everyone, please I need some help from anyone that's gone through the step of NVC. My petition for my wife was accepted and received a NOA indicating my file has been forwarded to NVC, in the instructions  they are telling me to wait 30 days before I contact them and ask for a handler and pay fees, that is my concern, I want to be prepared when I reach that point , does anyone know what documents they will ask from me and what's the dollar amount of NVC fees that will be aplicable ??    Any enlightment on this will be appreciated  , thank you

@Carlos/Yanet I would suggest you start by reading the Wiki on VJ about the NVC process. Its a great place to start.

http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

I would also suggest reading through the process from the State Department website, they have different tabs for each part of the process.

https://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate/immigrant-process/approved/contact.html

While you gather your sponsor's financial forms, police report, and other supporting documents, you want to mark your calendar for 2-3 weeks from now and definitely call the NVC to see if they have received your case. If they haven't, you can just call back. Once they have received your case they will assign you a new NVC case number and will invoice you the AOS fee.

@misshepburn.. I'm sorry to bother you again. When you mentioned " SPONSOR " .. that's that mean my wife or me ? .. I'm the petitioner and my wife the beneficiary , she's in Colombia ... please help me clarify this .. thank you

@Carlos/Yanet No problem.. that is what VJ forums are for :)

To clarify --- the US Citizen (USC) is the petitioner... they are also the "sponsor" for the Affidavit of Support (AOS) part of the NVC process. If the USC does not earn enough money on their own to sponsor an immigrant (125% of poverty level) then you will need a "joint-sponsor" for the financial part of the application.

You are right, the non-USC spouse is the beneficiary -- sometimes also called the intending immigrant.

Hope that helps! You can always PM me if you have more questions.
