Tax Question for K1 Visa holder

Can you use turbotax to e-file as Married Filing Separately (MFS) AND claim an exemption for your NRA spouse IF the NRA spouse has no U.S. source income?
What is the form or statement that your NRA spouse/K-1 Visa holder file that still has their AOS under processing?

The problem you will encounter is TurboTax is programmed to accept only numbers in that field. It won't allow letters (NRA) even though the IRS says that's what you put instead.

A work around is leave it blank and ignore all the !! that TurboTax will give you. Then print the return for filing. Fill in the letters with a pen, sign and mail. Of course that's not e-filing like you want to do.

I am not sure if online TurboTax will even let you print if you have supposed errors. The desktop software you install will let you.
