uscis case status let's you see the status of your petition.

 

there is nothing preventing you from being able to leave the us, returning you need a green card or ap or have a valid visa that allows dual intent though. ok being in jail would prevent you from leaving but if you spent enough time there they may help you leave when you are done.

only if you have advanced parole or a visa that allows dual intent. otherwise they will consider your green card abandoned and deny it. then you have to start all over again.

 

what visa did you enter with and when does/did your i94 expire?

To answer your question.  

 

1st:  the visa stamped in your passport was invalid the moment you entered the USA at POE.

 

2nd:  You are an immigrant visa, at POE you were given an I-551 stamp in your passport, valid for ONE year.  This is the same as a Green Card... you may exit the USA and enter again as long as you are not gone TOO long.  

Visa chase and citizenship.. DONE!
