Hello Friends.... Just wanted to update that Mirasol got her EAD on 9/29/07 and applied for her first US job with Target the past Friday. She was called the next day to come in for an interview on Monday, 10/8. She did great and was given a conditional job offer on the spot at the interview. We were both so very happy as this was her first application and interview and it was a success. She had heard from friends that Target took 90 days to hire and others told her they were refused as they did not pass the "tests". She was so nervous and worried about being able to understand the interviewers if they spoke slang or too fast for her, but she did well and I am so very proud of her. GREAT JOB HONEYKO! (L)(L)(L)

We have our interview for AOS on 10/25/07 and are praying for a green card without any problems. Other than that, I have been off work for the past three weeks with a back injury and being sick with the bronchitis that's been going around here. Hopefully, I can be back to work this Sunday.

Hope all of you and your families are doing well. Good luck and God bless to all those with upcoming interviews and/or medical appointments. Be prepared, strong and confident and you can make it through.

Take care all!

Scott and Mirasol

Congratulations to Mirasol on the job. That's great. And good luck on the AOS interview. Fely has a job interview tomorrow with Visiting Angels (they are a caregiver provider). She too is worried about understanding the interviewer and the interview understanding her. So we'll see how it goes. They say they do have some Filipino clients, so that might be a good sign. I've got an interview myself next Friday (computer support for a school district) and have to take a written test, so we're both a bit nervous right now.

Nobody knows for sure but we paid $50 for my vaccination supplement, reading the TB skin test that I had at the city health department and attesting that even though the result was positive (size of the red swelling on my skin was 15mm), is because of the BCG shots I got when I was a kid. You need to get the list of Civil Surgeons in your area and make some inquiries. Just remember, you only need the vaccination supplement, not the entire medical since you came here using K1. The only reason why you will need to redo the entire medical is if the last medical you had is past 12 months.

Yeah.. don't get the full physical! In my case, although I said it again and again that I only wanted the supplement, they almost gave me a full physical. Gah.

And.. I didn't get the TB Skin test done :P Very risky of me, but by the time I'd learned about the skin test, my visit to the doctor's was all over! Imagine my panic after that.. But now I'm hopeful that it will no longer be an issue because the TB scare seems to have died down, and it (skin test requirement) seems to be based on the interviewer's discretion.

thank.

Do i need to have the TD shot and TB skin test at the city or state I am currently residing? or the place is regardless as long as I have the records/results on d doctor's letter head?

We got the TD shot and TB Skin test done at the local health Dept. The total cost was $15 for both (the cost may different where you are...), then we took the cards from them and the 3025 from St Lukes to a civil surgeon to have all of the info transfered to the 693a

To confirm..If I am in Macon, GA, I could have my shots and test at Forstyh, GA?

If that is the closest place to where you live that's where I would go (that's how we picked the place we went to).

Novie did not have any swelling from the TB test, but here shoulder was sore for several days from the TD shot and she had flu like symptoms for one day after getting the shot.

So what documents you showed guys to the civil surgeon that we had the physical exams and some bloodworks done in the Phils? All the medical reports except for the vaccination records and xray plates were forwarded to the immigration officer upon POE. None of us have the copies of the exams taken and medical results...I asked this since one civil surgeon insists to give me a physical exam and bloodtests since he wont be able to see a proof that I had it in the Phils. And one surgeon wants that the physical exam and bloodtests must also be done by a civil surgeon...we called lots of offices already although there is one office said that as long as we provide them proof that I had everything done already, then they will only do the transfer of the medical records.

Please give me advice on the proper support and documents.

thanks alot.

We had the 3025 record from St Lukes and the records from the health dept. for the TD shot and TB skin test

yup..got the same papers do but how did you convince the civil surgeon that you do not need to take another physical examination & blood tests (HIV,syphillis, etc)? As I am reading the form 3025, it only says something on the vaccine records and not on any physical exams/bloodtests.

thanks.

I was fortunate that I found a civil surgeon who did what we wanted him to do. I suggest asking them over the phone if they can do the 693A for you.

If you cannot find one who will only do the 693A for you, can try to show them this memo:

http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/I693MedExt011106.pdf

It is the "Extension of Validity of Medical Certifications on Form 693" and it allows you to make use of the medical exam you had at St Lukes prior to leaving the Philippines.

When is the timing to apply for a state ID and driver's license? Would it be better to apply it after the wedding (with the marriage certificate)?

one more thing, what if somebody wants to hire me part-time in an ice cream shop after d wedding? am i allowed to? wont i get into trouble?

thanks.

need to check the requirements of the state your in for drivers license or ID card. did you get the EAD stamp in your passport at your POE? if so, that will only allow you you to work till your I-94 expires. after that you'll need an EAD or green card. also you'll need an SSN before you can work.

Your I-94 allows you to work until it expires per SSA regulations (I have the link for this at home), the trick however will be in finding an employer that will accept it. With the current focus on illegal immigration this will be even more difficult. Good Luck to you!
