I did, but it was many many years ago. I found that is was awkward, having right hand drive, on a roading system for cars that drive on the right.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

A car that costs £250 would not be worth importing. The cost of the shipping would be many more times that. Generally speaking, people only import vintage or collectible vehicles from Europe, due to the cost. And even if the cost were not an issue, there would be other complications as already mentioned - the car would be a right-hand drive, for a start.

Okay,  in a perfect world if would be easy and cheap. He's bringing over 10,000 but we just didn't want half of it gone through a car :/

It costs thousands to import a car by ship from the UK.

Sounds like he has some money to put a good down payment on a car. What else was he planning on spending the 10,000 on?
