The problem is not that they are getting more applications.  I checked the numbers and they are getting average number of applications since 2015. The problem is that they are processing i751 2x slower since 2017. Because their priorities are somewhere else.

Updates: I’m just done getting my I-551 here in USCIS. They told me I need to wait 4 to 5 months before getting my 10 years Green Card.

I just got my passport stamped as well. Not that I asked because I already know, but they didn't tell me any extra info. Just suggested I submit an case inquiry, but that system just says i'm "still within normal processing time".

The system is setup like this for a reason so you can't send a case request until you are past processing date posted on USCIS 's website. We have to wait 18months.

I went to USCIS yesterday to get my infopass.. The officer is so nice and kind. He just asked me, if I have plan to travel? Then, I also asked him different questions regarding my travel and my I-751. He returned my expired GC and Letter of extension too.

Don't be nervous :) You are the one making the questions at an Infopass usually.. unless the officer is in bad mood.. But in any case they are only there to provide information and assistance to you so don't worry.

FYI, I always got the stamp last week at the orlando service center, they took my  expired green card, but literally the entire process took less than 20 minutes from stepping in the building.

I went at 7.30 am though which may have had something to do with how quickly I was in and out :)
