At least nine people died in a massive fire that destroyed a northern California warehouse during a party early Saturday morning, officials said.

Fire Chief Teresa Deloche-Reed said that at least another 13 people are still unaccounted for after the deadly blaze started around 11:30pm in the 1300 block of 31st Avenue during an event advertised as 'Rave Cave' featuring musician Golden Donna's 100% Silk West Coast tour.

'We still have to do a more thorough search of the building and we don't know the potential number of other victims,' Deloche-Reed said.

The party located in the 1300 block of 31st Ave in the Fruitvale district of the city was reportedly part of musician Golden Donna's '100% Silk' West Coast tour.

Authorities say between 75 to 100 people were in the club for the party when the fire started around 11:30pm.

Now fire officials are trying to account for everyone who was in attendance.

Fifty-five firefighters battled the blaze at the scene, as crews found flames on three sides of the building, Battalion Chief Lisa Baker told the East Bay Times.

Rave Party? We had those in Dallas back in the late 80's when Extacsy was a legal drug. You all go after the club close and you party on X, is this the same thing as today.

Not really sure if this was the same thing, there is still more information to come. It sounds like this was more of an art community gathering, or something like that. From the article below it appears this structure was not permitted for parties or as a residence, and was potentially sort of a dump. I know in my experience as a firefighter, I have been in several fires where there was a lot of clutter up to and including serious hoarding. Always tough to work in those situations to rescue or even put out a fire.

For all those lost their lives, R.I.P.

When we attended these it was like a series of information and they would move the party a few times early in the week so police can't find them, and they would have them in older abandoned warehouse district places and usually charge $20 per head entry fee. Kinda sounds like the gameplan is still in play today.
