I've filled out the I-864 Affidavit of Support completely but I'm not sure if I filled the tax return portion correctly. I filed taxes in 2015 (have proof) but didn't in 2014 because my income was too low (have proof). I also was not required to file taxes in 2013 because I was not working as I was a full time student (have proof). My question is do I Choose yes or no for 18.a. ( Have you filed a federal income tax return for each of the three most recent tax years?) I marked it as no. Do I check mark box 20 that says ( I was not required to file a federal income tax return as my income was below the IRS required level and I have attached evidence to support this). I checked marked it. I want a second opinion before I send in my papers.

Welcome to the forum.

As has been mentioned many, many times by several forum old-timers, interpret the questions literally and answer them truthfully.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

On box 20 when where it says I was not required to file federal income tax is it referring to just the most recent year or all 3 previous years. That's what's confusing me. Because if it's just referring to the last year then their would be no reason to check it but if refers to any/all of the 3 previous years then I assume I should check mark it which I did.
