It is recommended that we bring last 5 years of tax return transcripts.
Interestingly IRS only has last 4 years of transcripts.

On Irs's site it states that
"Transcripts are free and you can get them for the current year and the past three years. In most cases, a transcript includes the tax information you need."
Is last 4 years document enough?
How do we deal with this.
Thanks

I've had the same issue however just filed my N400 two weeks ago. I pulled an additional report (I forget the name of the report) for 2011 reflecting salary, amount paid in Taxes and the fact there was a 0 balance carried forward. I'm hoping that should be enough I'm also willing to bet I won't get an interview until after the new year by which time I'll have filed another year's worth of tax returns. I also have copies on file of every 1040 and confirmation it was accepted by IRS since I started to file taxes here just in case.

Filed N400 11/7/16

Check (CC) Cashed 11/10/16

I just filed https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4506.pdf to get the last 5 years 1040. I guess only 2011 was enough but better safe than sorry. It is 250$.
I am gonna take those along with the return transcripts and transaction transcripts. I have all the "transaction transcripts" since 2007 and they show the dates of the tax returns. But as you know when you go to irs and on the drop down menu you choose "immigration" as the reason of this request" and it recommends that you download the return transcripts which only has the last 4 years.
Will see how it goes.
I am also going to do my taxes asap and maybe I get the 1040 before the interview anyway.
Thanks.

Do you still have your 1040 and related paperwork from when you filed 5 years ago?

If so, bring IRS transcripts for the last 4 years plus your tax return, etc. for the 5th year.

If you don't have that info, all you can do is bring what you have.

Good luck!
