So still no update on GC, EAD or AP, but I had a thought recently.

I have a SSN that I got when I was a student (looooonngg before we got married) and so it is in my maiden name. I applied for all 3 forms with my married name. When I do receive my EAD, will there be trouble working since the EAD will show my married name, and my SSN will show my maiden name? If so, how do I fix that? I assume I can just take the EAD in with me to the SSN office and have them update it but how long does that take (hours, days, weeks?)

Also I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I hyphenated. So for example my SSN shows my name as 'First Maiden' and the EAD (presumably) will show it as 'First Maiden-Married'

  • On Oct 13th AOS status was updated to say that a notice was returned due to post office being unable to deliver it. Tier two told me that it was biometrics or NOA1 (even though I had received both before this date).

  • A few weeks later I received a notice dated Nov 10th, in regards to my call about the Oct 13th notice. The new notice said that there were no RFE's or withholding on my case. So still not sure what this Oct 13th notice was about.

  • Received a letter from a NY office on Dec 23rd (dated Dec 10) stating that my medical was over 1 year old. (At this point my medical was only 7 months old)

  • Teir two submitted an internal service request to which I got a response telling me that I need to respond to RFE ASAP

  • Submitted another service request on 1/6/17. To which I got a response on 1/19/17 stating that my case was pending and is outside of processing time (no mention of RFE)

From what I understand, yopu can not change your inormation on SSN card until you have the physical GC.

Bugt you will have no problem with work, everybody is familiar with maiden/married name thing, it's not just immigrant's problem. At least? I had no problem, work used my married name.

The above is incorrect. You can change the name on your SSN when you receive the EAD in your married name. Take your marriage certificate too. They will just need to update your status and change the name. Your number will stay the same, so you should still be able to work no matter if the SSN is in maiden at first.
