Hi everyone, thanks for all of your help so far. I am compiling my documents for naturalization and have all of the necessary documents. I have a question about whether anyone has had a similar experience. So my husband and I have filed our taxes jointly since I became a LPR, and when we did our 2015 taxes earlier this year we found that we actually owed money to the IRS and state tax authority, which was displayed on our recent tax return. This was because I had withheld too much from my paycheck. We made sure that we paid the outstanding amounts to the IRS and state authority within 2 days of learning that we owed taxes, and I have obviously since adjusted the amount that I withhold so this does not happen again. I have a bank statement, which shows that the IRS and state authority took the money owed by us. Will this suffice to demonstrate to USCIS that I do not owe any taxes? Thanks in advance.

It is highly unlikely the interviewer will ask you to show proof that you do not owe any taxes but for peace of mind you can order your 2015 tax account transcript at https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript which will show all the payments you made after you filed your taxes and the outstanding balance (if there is any). Take that to the interview with you and if the question comes up hand it to the interviewer.
