I read somewhere on here that some people are able to get an EAD really quick...how is this done? Also, my fiance hates not being able to work so is it possible she applies for her EAD after her K1 is issued and just continue to work in her native country while its being processed or must she be on US soil?

The EAD is only issued on US soil. As for quick EADs, I've seen the process happen very fast on its own OR the applicant had a employment letter/offer in hand. I'm not sure how en employment offer would work with the K-1 process though as that may move into a gray area regarding intent.

EAD is normally applied for when doing AOS. For this you have to have entered on the K1, and got married. You can't apply to alter status until you are married.

It can take up to 90 days once applied for, but often is quicker, in my case it was 60 days.

I believe technically you can apply for EAD as soon as you enter the country, but it would expire when your i94 expires (ie 90 days after entering the country). So you'd wait almost 90 days, get it, and then it would expire after a few days. And you'd still need to apply for AOS after getting married. So its pretty much pointless. Just do what everyone else does if working is important - get married as soon as you can after entering the country, apply for AOS/EAD/AP as soon as you can, make sure everything is right so you don't get RFEs, and be patient. This is why USCIS makes sure that the USC has funds/income to support a non-working spouse for a while.

The usual time frame is 90 days.Most of the applicants gets it in between 60-90 days. i have known some applicants who have sneaked in a request for expedition of the application which was actually accepted which enabled them to get the right to work and the travel parole in first two months after the application was filed.i myself did it and got it in 60-90 days if i remember it. i now believe it was a waste of money as i became a resident after few months of getting the EAD But my circumstances might have been different than you or someone else for that matter.

The others advice is correct. However, if your fiancé (after getting married to you and filing for AOS and EAD) is able to obtain a written job offer - she may be able to expedite the EAD. It's been done successfully by many on this forum.

Another option is that you cancel the K1, get married in her country and apply for a CR1 visa. It would take a year to obtain, but she would be eligible to work the minute she steps off the plane.
