Hi all,

My fiance recently got a police certificate for the time she lived in South Korea. However we mistakenly told them to address it to USCIS instead of NVC. Will this be a problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Thanks for the reply!

Sorry I should have said that the actual certificate, at the very top of the paper, was made out to the USCIS instead of NVC. She actually has the certificate and translation in her possession.

Police certicates took them from 3 to 6 months to expire if you re lucky it will return to where it was sent from before it expires .. then it can be sent again to the right adress which is NVC make sure to include translation

OP doesn't have to worry about it expiring if fiance no longer lives in South Korea. If you obtain a certificate for a country that you previously resided in, and have not returned to reside there since the police certificate was issued, USCIS will accept it, no matter if it is past its printed expiry date. When you think about it this makes sense - the certificate completely covers the time you were resident there.

It doesn't matter who it is made out to. So long as it states that there is no trace in their criminal records, you are fine.
