K1 visa: when to schedule the interview /medical test (Peru)

Hello, everyone. I need some help:

We just called the NVC and we were told that our case had left for the embassy in Peru Sep. 6th, and that any question will be answered by the embassy in Peru.

What should I do now?

I've read that I (the beneficary) need to wait for packet 3 & 4 to be delivered; and that in one of these packets I will find the interview date. So, that means that I don´t have to schedule it online? Does the embassy schedule it?

How about the medical test? When do I need to schedule it? Do I need the letter of appointment that comes in one of these packets to schedule it?

I sent emails to the embassy, but received no reply so far.

Thanks for your help.

Great! Thank you very much indeed. This is a lot helpful ?. I will start with the DS-160. ?

Why did others pay for their interview at the embassy? (I read it on the reviews) or is there another fee to be paid?

Back in 2014 and early 2015 you paid for the DS-160 in cash when you arrived at the embassy for the interview. Now you pay ahead of time through ScotiaBank.

It sounds like you have everything under control now. I wrote a pretty detailed review of my husband's interview in May (you can find it in the Lima embassy reviews) in case that helps. Two quick little tips:1

1. you can pick up your medical exam results 5 business days after the medical, so make sure to leave enough time between your medical date and your interview (at least one calendar week - when you call to schedule the medical appointment they will ask you when your interview is and make sure there's enough time).

2. When you pay for the DS-160 at ScotiaBank, make sure to keep the receipt! They ask for it at the embassy interview even though it's not on the list of required documents.

My case still says "in transit"(CEAC). Would it be good to pay for the interview now and schedule it ? or should I wait until it changes to "ready"? Do I need the appointment letter (sent by the embassy) to schedule the medical exam? I really apreciate your help.

I would wait until it changes to ready - but you can email the embassy and ask. That might help move things along.

The embassy doesn't send an appointment letter. You will need to bring the interview confirmation page - that is generated when you make the appointment online.

Great! Thank you so much, you have helped to make it more clear for me. I hope it changes soon, it has been "in transit " for over a week now. We were told (NVC) this could take up to a month.

Well you need to check some things:

Number 1 : did you check the status of ur case here: https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx ,( status must say "ready") otherwise you have to wait,  If so,

Number 2 : Payment . Did you already pay the fees? you cannot schedule an appointment if the fees havent been paid. It takes 48 hours after payment to be activated. A mail is sent to confirm payment has been received.

number 3: the "coupon is generated when u registered. Fist, you receive an email with the account registration then complete your information (name , passport, DS-160 number etc). Choose DHL office, and then generate the "coupon" (I understand you have to include your children here ( there is an option that says: ADD another applicant). After this, a mail will be sent with the payment instructions,   print the doc and take it to Scotiabank, that paper has the total to be paid and PIN  number for the bank ( follow the instruccions that the embassy sent you (packet4). Finally Wait until payment is confirmed (you will receive an email) It can take form 2 to 10 days.

Once payment is confirmed, you can schedule your interview.

Gio

Hi everybody,

I have some questions for the ones who already receive the visa, I need to buy my flight ticket by the end of July because which is very soon and it is going to be more expensive if I buy it after my interview (14 July) and even more expensive for the Peru independece day lol, so I am trying to save money buying it earlier.

1. How many days after your interview you pick your visa up.

2. Can I buy ONE WAY ticket or I should buy return since I am not a resident yet

3. what other recomendations do you have ?

4. THANKS A LOT !!!
