Wait time for K1 interview date

So my fiance has his medical on Thursday this week. From what I understand, he should wait til 5 business days after this to schedule his interview. My question is for those with recent experience with this part. When you scheduled your interview, how far out were the dates you had to pick from? I am just so rediculously excited to have him back here with me, so I am trying to get an idea in my head of how much longer we might still have to wait!

You could have scheduled it already. The 5 business days is the time you need between medical appointment and interview (as a minimum) to allow for the blood test results and for the results to be taken to the embassy.

You don't need to wait for the medical to be done before you book the interview. You just can't have an interview date that is less than 5 business days after the medical appointment as the results won't be ready so you will have wasted your time because they won't be able to make a decision there and then.

Just to add as I'm in this process at the moment - when you book your interview you can put an expected date of US wedding and supposedly the earlier you say, the earlier interview they'll give you (no proof needed).

It might still be weeks away, but I've then also found earlier appointments popping up in the reschedule section of the website they set you up on (I guess from other people cancelling). New appointments seem to be released each morning so just check in regularly and you might get lucky (although make sure it's more than 5 working days after the medical as JFH said)

This is no longer true because a live consulate person isn't picking dates and assigning them based on who needs the visa before another. I don't think there is human thought trying to prioritize based on who is marrying first. The computer just shows what is open at the time.

I scheduled my medical and then I did my interview as soon as I knew. Otherwise it was just going to delay me more. They need 5 business days for the medical to be delivered, but as long as your appointment is 5 days after the medical it's fine. Plus you can reschedule the interview if anything gets held up at Knightsbridge.
