I adopted my wife's kids

Our adoption is done I called immigration they told me since The kids have been with me for more then 2 years they automatically become citizens and I could get them US passports as proof of citizenship or I could file the N600. Does anyone have experience with this? What is the best process ?

N600 , do it before they turn 18. You would be the one filling it for them.

Yes they have been in the USA since 2011. I can apply for a US passport for them 2 years after the adoption which will be Aug of 2018. The lady I talked to at the immigration information phone line said they don't need the N600. We have received updated birth certificate (showing adoption) from the state of California. They were 13 & 9 they are 14&10 now

If its not on paper I wouldn't believe it. Either apply for the N600 , consult an attorney, or ask to see that information from the Immigration lady in writing. That's just my 2 cents, I learned my lesson the hard way.
