Hi,

I know that for the beneficiary's interview they need to have copies of your income tax return. My problem is I was a student up until last year and my parents claimed me as a dependent because I was living with them. I did not make enough to have to pay taxes. So my question how do I explain that to the immigration people??

For the k1 you have to have a income over a certain amount

USE this calculator:

https://rapidvisa.com/visa-income-requirement-calculator/

If you have been working ALL this year then you might be able to submit paystubs and likely depending on the time it takes to get your approval for your I-129F you might have enough time to early January that you can then contact your HR dept or boss and have them give you, your W2. FILE your taxes immediately and then you will have a tax return to submit to USCIS. Also you will get a letter from your employer stating your income.

Thank you! How far back do I have to provide? I just started working this year? It's so confusing because one website said three years of tax returns??

What consulate? All of them do not even require the tax return with the I-134 for the K-1 visa. Does your consulate's instructions specify that they do? They will want the most recent tax return/transcript, if they do. You can provide a statement that you were a student and not required to file because your income was below the filing threshold, but that you are now working and earning enough to sponsor your fiance(e). List your current annual income on the I-134 and provide a letter from employer and/or recent pay stubs to prove that current income amount.

You should get a Co sponsor. You need 3 years worth of tax returns. Maybe your parents?

No you don't.
