Request to Transfer Consulate Processing

Hi All,

This is just an additional information to those who wanted to get their case transferred to a different Embassy for Interview other than what the NVC originally assigned you with.

All I did is just send in my request to the asknvc@state.gov expressing my need to be transferred. I have sent them a copy of my work visa as well as proof of billing address to establish my residency here in Singapore. I was originally assigned in US Embassy Manila. It took them 2 weeks to respond and gave me a new case number to proceed with the process. Although I called and advised that I can continue filling up DS260 while waiting for their decision, I didn't submit it until I finally have the new case number just to make sure it wont get lost along the process or wont be retrieve. I was able to retrieve the saved DS260 using the new case number so it may have added 2 weeks on my process but saved me the hassle and expenses of going home for interview in the future.

I hope this helps for those who are actually overseas and case was assigned to their country of birth. Thank you and God bless!

This is interesting. Which embassy did you specify on the I-130? We specified London and have been assigned a London case number.

So, did you specify Singapore but they ignored it/made a mistake and assigned a Manila number? Or did you specify Manila and you have moved since you filed the I-130?

Just wondering if they automatically assign the embassy of your birth country even if you specify something else on the I-130.

I have requested Singapore through a separate letter along with my I-130 but I am not really sure if I was able to edit my I 130 itself my copy here indicates blank. Though I have attached my work visa and employment letter with it as well. So I am not sure really if its the birth country they would opt to assign you with.
