F1 to AOS. Specific address questions. Please help

Hi,

I am here on F1, I have been here for over a year. Before that I was on B1 visa for 5 years ( dating during this time) . I am currently doing my doctorate in New York. I met my girlfriend 6 years ago, I proposed to her a year ago. I recently got married to her. I am in a process of filling all the application forms and collecting all the documents for my AOS.

So my current situation is that I have two addresses, I spend 3 days close to my University with my roommate ( subleasing from him) in New York and 4 days with my wife in Ohio. Both of our names are on the lease. My wife is working therefore she cannot move in with me.

I have following questions:

Would that be a problem if I am on two leases?

I am using our Ohio address for the all the correspondence with USCIS, do I have to inform USCIS of both addresses?

Do I have to include explanation letter for why I have two addresses and mention that I spend 3 days in NY and 4 days in Ohio?

Thanks for the reply.

How do I inform them of two addresses? In your explanation letter. Is there any place in the form where you can mention to concurrent addresses? No, it is assumed that the majority of people have a single residence.

I think that it is ALWAYS better to put this information in your initial application! When I filed, my husband had two jobs at the same time. The G325 Biographical Information form asks for jobs for the past few years. The first slow is for the present job, and the form simply says "FROM (insert date here) and TO (PRESENT is pre filled in). Older entries have both FROM and TO spaces blank. I simply used the second line for the other job that is currently being worked at as well. I then added a separate sheet of paper (filled out using the parameters indicated on the application) indicating why there was no "END DATE" for the second slot.

I think you could to this for your application as well. Just use both top slots, don't put an end date, and provide a detailed explanation of the situation.

AOS Package Sent: March 30, 2016

AOS Package Received: March 31, 2016

NOA Received by Mail: April 7, 2016

Biometrics Appointment: May 10, 2016

Biometrics Walk-In: May 9, 2016

Interview Scheduled: July 14, 2016
