K-1 I-129F filing fee question

Me and my fiancee will be filing for the k-1 visa this Thursday, and we were wondering whether you have to pay for the filing fee straight away or can you pay it at a later date?

You need to submit the filing fee with the application otherwise it will be rejected and bounced back to you.

The embassy stage varies by embassy. I was referring to the filing fee required to submit form I-129F to the lockbox.

We are about to start the whole process, so we haven't even filed for the visa

There's no appointment at this stage, you mail the whole application with the supporting documents to the Texas lockbox (which is different from the Texas service center).

There are three general stages in this process:

1) Petition stage - you file I-129F. USCIS will check both petitioner and beneficiary's eligibility before forwarding the application to the

2) NVC stage - they do some preprocessing, background checks, and forward the application to the consulate that serves the area where the beneficiary lives. Then the beneficiary does an application for a

3) K visa - this stage is embassy-specific, each one of them has it's own instructions, parameters and degree of scrutiny before issuing visas.
