Hello, I have followed this forum for a while when my fiance and I were dating. Now that we are engaged I thought it was time to make an account and ask these questions. So here I go.

I am a college student nearing the end of my degree, will be done by the time she arrives if she is approved. I have a part time job and I live at home with my mom. This job brings me around 100% of the federal poverty level for 2 people but not quite there. Because I knew we'd need a sponsor we decided the IR-1/CR-1 was a better option than the more attractive K1 visa. (Because Manila rarely accepts co sponsorship) The co sponsor we would use is my mother who has always been very supportive of our relationship and has offered to house us until I begin my career in the environmental science field. My mother earns well above the poverty limit for her household size.

My first question, with the IR-1/CR-1 what kind of odds am I looking at being below 100% income for myself and having my mom co sponsor? I know you cannot give a definite answer but based on your experience..

My second question is, will my income be judged not only for my fiance and I but everybody in my mother's house? Even though She only has 2 dependents? I think I read that somewhere. If so, should I move out to my own place? Or would that hurt my chances of having my co sponsorship with my mother approved?

sorry if these questions are worded in a confusing way. I'll try to elaborate if anyone needs it.

Does your mom claim you on her taxes? If not then you're not her dependent.

If you have a joint sponsor their, not your, income is what matters.

Also pleas be looking at 125% not 100%

I said 100% because I read that I should have at least 100% even with a co sponsor. Maybe that was for k1. I will ask her who she claims on her taxes now. So I do not send them my income at all?

Yeah that was for k1

You shoud since you have income, but its not as important due to your joint sponsor.

And since my income is less important it's ok for me to use 6 or 8 months of pay stubs and not a year of income tax? I ask this because it will be a long time still before I have any tax data.
