Hi everyone, I'm so glad this place exists! When I moved to UK I found a website like this (UKYankee) that was a godsend.

I'm a USC resident of UK for 5+ years with my spouse who is a British citizen. We're going to apply for the I-130. I have been looking at other posts but I've found it difficult to find all the exact questions I have.

First question:

no.18 address in the US where your relative intends to live.

no. 19 Your Relative's Address Abroad.

We will be moving into my cousin's apartment in NY so I put that address for no.18 but I'm unsure about 19. What is "abroad"? NY or UK? I read somewhere that I should put my spouse's mum's address because that is permanent. So I'm really confused now because I thought 19 was for applicants where the UK Spouse is already in the US.

2nd Question:

No. 21 If filing for your spouse, give last address at which you lived together.

My question is the "From" and "To" date field. As I am completing the application on the computer, should I just handwrite "Present" for the "To" date?

#19 is the UK address. You are the petitioner, filing for your relative. Therefore, #19 refers to your relative's address in the country he/she is residing in.

Keep in mind this form is used by people petitioning for parents, spouses, brothers/sisters and children which is why it's generic.

#21, yep, just use black pen. Form doesn't use barcode technology so it should be fine.

Hi teeak, Thank you for your reply. Still confused about 19. Why ask the address twice? It's asked in the first page under the "relative's" name. Incidentally, there is a barcode on the bottom of the form, but I will still handwrite "present" since there is no other way.

The form applies to people in different situations hence the question. It's possible that the relative is currently living in the US or in another country where they won't be interviewing which is why it asks for the address abroad. The barcode I was referring to is the 2D barcode technology which captures information as you enter it on the form. https://www.uscis.gov/forms/forms-updates/uscis-form-improvements-initiative

Either way, the instructions do state you may either type of print legibly in black ink, so you should be fine.

Thanks for clarifying, I think I've got my head around that one now lol. I suspect I will have more questions in the future so I will thank you in advance for answering those too!
