16 June, Thursday and 17 June, Friday the phone number 800-375-5283 option 1 then 2 then 2 then 2 would get to a live representative.

Options have changed and I don't know how to get a live rep now.

They say for a live representative call back between the hours of 8am to 6pm....though, there are no live reps nor options that lead to a live rep.

Thursday, 16 June, 2016 called most of the day and held for tier 2 support

This ended with the tech finding out his computer was locked up and he shut down the call at 4:00pm

Said he would call me back as I gave my number.

He did not.

Friday, 17 June, 2016 called most of the day and held for tier 2 support

tier 2 support was a female from Puerto Rico by accent followed by a thoroughly mangled version of the english language exceeding hard to understand.

Had to interrupt and explain, "lady, I can't hardly understand anything that you say"..to which she kept talking and then erupted in a fiery explosion

of words accusing me of being racist because I couldn't understand her and then she hung up. (it's friday to her so why not start the weekend early, right?)

*I did ask the LORD to slap her as this seemed extremely unwarranted and He knows right where she is...*

Spoke with a lady afterward and their computer locked up and they shut down the call at 4:00pm as well...

The understandable lady said,"All our computers just shut down. Have to call back monday at 8:00am."

Monday, 20 June, 2016 called back 8 am sharp to find that the option to speak to a live rep has been removed on the menu. option 1,2,2,2 (the last 2) doesn't exist now.

No appointments at our local office an hour away.

No phone service.

Any idea?

hey, USCIS is my homie now. haha. i had been calling them and talking to a tier 2 (IO) on almost daily basis when they messed up my case for a little bit. genuine clerical error though. call the number, 1 -->2--->1(enter receipt number) than go for option 3.

Yes, tried that almost_umrican. Thanks though for the info.

It gives me the "updated information from my case" and say to contact the state department as the visa is being sent to them.

Visa is already processed and wife and son are already here almost 2 years now.

Greencard issue has me calling to get an appointment as there are no appointments available here locally (an hour away) or to get resolution before the cr2 expires (wife & son came on the same day together from Philippines but after 3 years of marriage (when we got around to paying the g.c. fees I didn't know about (after 1 year here) wife received 10 year green card and son received cr2 green card....I'm told they should both have the same type of green card and there is an error being that the green card for son should be a 10 year also...this is the issue)

You can file a Form I-90 to get a new GC for your son. It doesn't matter if the CR2 expires since it's only a typographical error on the actual card. In USCIS' system, he has a 10-year GC.

Yes sir, teeak.. If that is the case then it sounds great but until I hear it from them I'm not wanting to put the cart before the horse.

Thank you for the reply though. Hoping that is the case.

*** I am assuming they both entered after your second anniversary, if that's NOT the case, disregard this.***

You need to file an I-90, that's really the only way to rectify the error. As you are basing it on DHS' error, it is free to file it. The only caveat is that you have to send the original GC with the application (a copy will not do), so make sure to take a copy of it (front & back) to keep for your records before you send the original with the I-90. Document well that he entered well after your 2nd anniversary (passport stamp, marriage certificate, maybe even send a copy of your wife's GC so they can see she automatically received the 10-year one) and write a letter of explanation as to what their error was.

You really have no other choice. Sure you could file an I-750 for him but

1) it's unnecessary

2) it's $590

Simply a phone call won't yield a corrected GC.

Very much appreciate all the input from everyone.

Haven't had time to reply till now as I took my family up to the local uscis about an hour away

and prayed the LORD would send His angel to prepare the way for us.

It worked!

Upon entering the building three armed men asked to see my appointment letter.

I said I wasn't able to get one.

The guard explained I wouldn't get in without an appointment letter.

I asked what do I do when uscis tier 2 support's computer system goes down twice on different days

and calling this morning nobody answers at all (even calling exactly at 8 am)and the menu changed

leaving no live person to speak with about our situation?

They said I would need an appointment and I agreed I did though each time I've searched there was

no appointment available so I drove up to see if anyone was able to help as I have work piling up

and can't deal with immigration everyday like this.

The guards looked at each other as if it wasn't their problem but pointed me toward procedure.

People started to enter and I remained quiet as they checked people in through their scanner so as to not be a nuisance.

I explained if this doesn't get taken care of and my son's greencard expires I don't want my son to be deported.

The head guard came closer to a counter and asked me what the situation was.

I explained (as I already did above) about the error concerning my son's greencard

and that it didn't stand out to me until just lately as something was wrong.

"A lawyer do your paperwork?", he asked.

"No sir, we did it ourselves as best as we were able", I replied.

"Didn't I read on the website that military members don't need to have an appointment?" I asked quietly.

"Are you military?", he asked.

"I was, from ** to ** and my ** is up also..", I said.

Hesitantly he looked as if he wanted to help but his hands were tied.

"I don't know if they would be able to help you like that.." (is something close to his reply as I remember it)

They again encouraged me to get an appointment as my son wouldn't be deported as long

as it showed I was trying to deal with the situation and not just ignoring it altogether.

A guard quietly informed me that the best time to look for an appointment was 7am to 9am as that is when the supervisors post the openings.

I thanked him for even looking into the matter and for the kind bit of information he had offered which was appreciated.

After this I figured I didn't want to give them cause to throw me out so I thanked them for their time and information

and figured I would try the appointment kiosk behind me just inside the front door.

I searched the location I was standing in and no appointments.

Then I searched a location 2 hours away just to see if they had an appointment available.

They did!

It was for ** days in the future when I was to be away working out of state.

To my surprise the head guard came out and informed me to take the appointment and search

to see if I can find a better day and then cancel this appointment....then he said if I did

get an appointment and came a day before or after the day and tried to get in....

He was interrupted by the first guard I spoke with upon entering.

"Can't we try to see if they can take care of him today if possible?"

Immediately and quietly I replied, "That would be great if you could.."

The head guard paused and looked behind him. He printed out the appointment from the kiosk

and picked it up and pointed toward the man behind him saying, "Go give this appointment letter

to him and explain you aren't able to be here on this day as you have to work out of state and

see if he can help you."

I was shocked!

They were letting me through the checkpoint to have a chance to speak with the man at the desk.

After thanking them repeatedly my family and I went through the checkpoint!

What a pleasant surprise!

We prayed again inside after the checkpoint that the LORD would help us in this and went to stand in line.

At our turn I handed the man the letter.

He looked at me like I put a frog in his coffee and said, "This letter is for the **."

"Yes sir, it is. I have to be out of state on that day for work and I've been trying for days to get this taken care of and.."

"Go and stand over there I'll check on something.", I was told.

"Yes sir, I'd be glad to wait.", I replied.

A bit later a tall slender man asked what the situation was.

After explaining a bit, he interrupted and said what's the problem.

Ah, I showed him the green cards and mentioned what I believed the discrepancy to be.

"Come through that door to window 3", he said.

Unbelievable!!

Many people were sitting all around and nobody did I see at any window.

All were waiting...except us.

At window 3 the officer said I made a mistake in not doing anything about this sooner.

He left and returned.

I admitted I made a mistake in that.

He asked why I let this go on for so long without taking care of it.

"Sir, when my wife and son got their greencards we were so happy and rejoicing I thought nothing of it at all.", I replied.

He explained that our case had been retired and he would have to pull it back up again and that it took 2 weeks.

He asked our address and contact information saying that when he has the file in two weeks then he can look into the matter and go from there.

After I admitted I made a mistake he said that they made a mistake too.

That's it then.

This to me doesn't appear to be the norm at all and I credit the LORD (Jesus Christ) for it all.

I'm sure this happens to others but I've not heard of it happening to anyone to my knowledge.

So glad I put my trust in Him instead of the ways of this world!
