Hi everyone,

first time in this forum. I plan to petition the 1-130 for my mom. We have been apart for a long time and i want her to live here with me and my family now. It has not been an easy journey so far, but i have some questions hopefully someone here is experienced and can help me, don't want to bother the lawyer who wants to charge me $$$.

I know this is a strange question, but when do you need to submit the copy of passport the relative who lives abroad? The reason i am asking is, my mom's Id card needs to be renewed and passport not available for a few months, but i want to petition her now for 1-130 to save time. Just wondering if 3-4 months after I submit is about the time she will need to provide it.

Also, she will be moving in couple months. IF i use a friend's address, would it cause any issue?

thank you in advance for your help.

hi

the copy of passport is needed at the nvc stage in 5 or more months so you can file for her now if you want to,

she can use her friend's address and then at the nvc stage, change her address and put her current address on the forms
