Errors by USCIS on the RFE-some ray of hope in this process

Hi I recently got an RFE that clearly contained an error. They said my extension to file income tax had expired by the time I signed the affidavit of support. Clearly not true as the affidavit was finished by the end of April and I have until Oct 15 to file my taxes.

I called USCIS and after going thru the usual BS (make an InfoPass appointment, etc.) I finally got through to an officer (on the third call). He was surprisingly helpful and told me what to do to correct the mistake on their part (which he actually admitted) and gave me some info about other steps and took a look at my case to see if everything else seemed ok. He told me not to bother with InfoPass because in either case I need to submit the same letter/evidence. So in this case the InfoPass would not be helpful.

In the process of doing all this I also found a website with help about errors on the part of USCIS and RFEs. The title of the page is "USCIS to Expedite Review for Certain Cases Affected by Specific Administrative Inaccuracies" which should be easy to find from the main USCIS page.

The bottom line from what I was told on the phone (and is evident from this webpage) is that no matter what you submit for an RFE it's really important to have documentation that you sent it. Same if you change an appointment.
